Desde Agosto en la pagina web oficial de Manu Chao se encuentra disponible un tema que se llama ¨Politik Kills¨. Nos sorprende otra vez Manu Chao con sus collages multiculturales. En palabra propias describe este nuevo tema, que se encuentra disponible para descarga en www.politikills.com.
“Imagine if, like on cigarette packs, we had preventive slogans on political campaign posters.
Imagina si, en un paquete de cigarrillos, hubiesen eslogans preventivos acerca de afiches de campañas políticas.
“Politik Kills” is a rock-reggae diatribe taken from “La Radiolina”, Manu Chao’s latest album. The lyrics, simplified to their purest form, bring to mind certain classics of Marley’s or Fela’s, in the way they confront head-on the inhumanity of governments: « Politik Needs Blood / Politik Needs Bombs/ That’s why my friend, it’s an evidence, Politik is Violence… Politik Kills 
». Several producers have helped him paint the banner against institutional violence.
¨Politikills¨es una diatriba rock-reggae tomada de “La Radiolina”, el ultimo albúm de Manu Chao. Sus letras, simplificadas a su más pura forma, nos traen a recuerdo clásicos de Marley y de Fela in la forma en que confronta encarando la inhumanidad de los gobiernos: ” Politik needs blood / Politik needs bombs / that’s why my friend, it’s an evidence, Politik is violence….Politik kills !”. Varios productores lo ayudaron a pintar la pancarta en contra de la violencia institucional.
This record puts together a proper musical demonstration, with five different versions of the song, fronted by the Anglo-Jamaican poet LKJ and his bass player Dennis Bovell, who immerse themselves in their ever-bubbling, scolding dub cauldron. They retained the sinuous guitar and the mariachi trumpets from the original version, creating a Mexican–western atmosphere.
Esta grabacion reune una acertaca demostraci’on musical, con cinco diferentes versiones de la cancion, encabezadas por el poeta Anglo-Jamaiquino LKJ y su bajista Dennis Bovell; quienes se sumerjen a si mismos en su burbujeante caldera Dub. Han conservado la sinuosa guitarra y las trompetas de Mariachi de la version original, creando una atmosfera Mexicano-Oriental.
On the second track, Prince Fatty (aka Mike Pelanconi, producer of Lilly Allen) brought in Horseman and his eruptive chatter to extrapolate on this controversial theme.

Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records and producer of Marley in the 70s, brings his authority to the enterprise and puts Paul “Groucho” Smykle, his favourite sound engineer, in charge. He was responsible for some classic choruses for the Wailers, Sly and Robbie, and Grace Jones.

The law bursts in on a remix by Italian DJ/MC Rude and his sound system, the Barrio Beat, with police sirens over the singer’s voice.

This procession of remixes, sort of pacific and melodic at first, gathers strength with the drum’n’bass of David B., Manu Chao ‘s drummer for many years and also an activist in the groups P18 and Kinky Beat. He fires up the BPMs, and the demonstration degenerates into a full-blown battle, then turns into a glorious digital uptempo chaos.
La procesión de remixes, del tipo pacificos y melodicos al princicpio, reune fuerzas con el drum n´bass de David B., quien ha sido el baterista de Manu Chao durante algunos años y que también es activista de los grupos P18 y Kinky Beat. El dispara los BPM´s, y la demostración degenera en una lucha todo-vale, que e convierte en un glorioso caos digital en Uptempo.

Note that the a-capella of the original version of this track is available as a free download on the website www.politikills.com. Manu Chao likes to apply his understanding of musical democracy: he incites people, whether they are sample superstars or anonymous dilettantes, to take over the song and make new remixes. This is not a competition, least of all an election. It is simply a creative space, open to any inspired amateur. There are already some new versions available, like the one pulled out of a Tijuana suburb by the excellent Nortec Collective, or the one by the French producer Molecule.

Manu Chao quiere aplicar su conocimiento de democracia musical: El invita a la gente, no importa si son superestrellas del sample o diletantes anónimos, a tomar la canción y hacer nuevos remixes. Esta no es una competición, es a fin de cuentas solo una elección. Tan solo es un espacio creativo, abierto a los novatos inspirados. Hay algunas nuevas versiones disponibles, como la que fue lanzada desde los suburbios de Tijuana por los excelentes Nortec Collective, o el que hizo el productor Francés Molecule.
